Car destroyed after catching fire in Woodbury

Firefighters battled a fully engulfed car fire this afternoon in Woodbury.
The car, a 2003 Mercedes, was southbound on Weir Drive when the driver noticed smoke and flames coming from the engine compartment. The man pulled over and safely exited before the vehicle before it became fully engulfed in flames, firefighters said.
Though flames reached as high as eight feet above the car at one point, they did not threaten high-tension power lines directly overhead, firefighters said.
